Kitchen Doors and A Quality Small Kitchen Design
Article by Jonathan Walker
If you are looking at your kitchen, and it is small, and you do not know what to do with it, then you need to be thinking about strategy.
If you are remodelling your little kitchen then it of the utmost importance that you consider storage space, as well as adequate lighting solutions, and the utilisation of appliances.
A really good storage answer that can be utilised within your small kitchen is a small island. This is something that gives you plenty of additional storage space, as well as giving extra work surface space. If your kitchen is to small for an island though, then the solution is to design your kitchen in a gallery fashion. Such a design means to put all of the cabinets in lines, on either side of the kitchen isle, as well as on the walls. This will allow you to take full advantage of the lack of room that you have, and your cabinets will not be in the way.
There is another great space saving device. Hang pots and pans from a rack that can be purchased and then chained to the ceiling. It does not only save space, but it also looks really good.
Do not, whatever you do, forget about that nice tall pantry cabinet, going right up to the ceiling. This is going to save you so much space. You can store items that you do not use that often, right up the top. That way you do not have to visit this inaccessible area all that often.
There are certain colour-ways that should be adhered to when doing a small kitchen.
Light coloured cabinets are going to accentuate space, especially if you have a couple of glass door cabinets. You can also put racks on the inside of doors, like spice racks and that. Such little things make all of the difference when it comes to utilising space.
Deep counters are the type of counters that you will want to be installing, and there are two reasons why. One is that the cupboards will be deeper, so that more things will fit inside them, and the other is that the work surfaces will be able to fit more things on them. Make sure you have a fair sized sink as small ones become useless when you need to wash anything bigger than a dinner plate.
And the last piece of advice? Why that’s simple; luminosity! Get plenty of lights under the wall mounted cabinets, so that they shine down onto the work surfaces. Your kitchen will be inviting, and just may look that little bit bigger again.
